Travel Nevada Get galactic at this tried-and-true gas station and alien souvenir shop at the ET Headquarters of the universe. The first gas station (and new business!) in Rachel for more than a decade, the Alien Cowpoke offers up tons of pull-over-the-car photo ops, and is a great place to get a lay of the land for the myriad of ET Highway pit stops in the area. Best yet, this friendly and welcoming ET Highway stop has plans to open a RV resort and campground.
Only in Your State: Check Out the Alien Cowpoke and General Store in Rachel July 21, 2022 by Lincoln County Authority of Tourism (LCAT) “Imagine driving down the vast Extraterrestrial Highway in south-central Nevada. Exciting and exhilarating, the drive not only would showcase Nevada’s most barren and rugged lands, but it would feel as if you’ve left Earth altogether! There is little civilization this far out when it comes to finding fuel or grabbing a bite to eat. Luckily, for alien chasers, there’s one gas station along the Extraterrestrial Highway that beckons like a beam of light – just be sure to not find yourself abducted as well!”

I've been coming to Rachel for years but after the pandemic hit I didn't travel as much. In all the years that I've been coming to Rachel I had never seen the gas station open be it because of the time of day that I was traveling through or the fact that it was closed for many years.
I had a chance to stop there today and it's really cool to see the old gas station open again. If you are passing through here and low on gas make sure to stop because you won't find another gas station for another 120 miles going towards Tonopah. The employees are great and the atmosphere very friendly. Area 51 and alien souvenirs are also available here for an affordable price so I would highly recommend you visit the Alien Cowpoke if you are in the area or even if you're not.

Best t-shirts in Rachel, and nicest folks.
adorable gas station in the middle of nowhere. the bathroom was really clean. the price of gas was really high ($5.99/gal), which is expected because of the location. this is the only place around that has cell service. they had a good variety of drinks, snacks, and area 51 souvenirs

A very peculiar gas station, with a better souvenir shop than the Alien Inn hotel, very friendly staff and exterior decoration related to area 51 and UFOs

Super cute service station with really original gifts and souvenirs designed and made by local folks. Extremely clean bathroom. Both of the ladies working inside were insanely kind and we chatted for a long time about the area. A must stop if you're coming through!

I passed through Rachel in the late 1980's. I didn't know much about Nevada at the time, and I didn't realize the distances between towns was so great. I was running low on gas in my Honda CRX, and happened upon Rachel. Its in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately, the gas station was open until noon, and I arrived at 11:30am. It was a Sunday, and my lucky day. The lady who owned and operated the gas station was very nice. I hope to return, but admittedly, its in the middle of nowhere. Someday.
Very friendly folks and a spacious selection.! Grab a bumper sticker and slap it on your wife if she “ acts bored”… keep your eyes to the sky, as you will definitely see some of America’s finest zipping around the sky!

Thank you so much for the wonderful service, Melody! Cowpoke rocks! We bought gas, food, souvenirs and had the best service around. Melody was such a wonderful delight to talk to, especially after such a long drive. It's well worth the time and effort to venture over to Alien Cowpoke. The prices as so modest it's a nice relief and their gas is good quality. There's an abandoned mine right across the Extra Terrestrial Highway 375 from Alien Cowpoke. It's worth the stop to snoop around if you're into abandoned places like I am. :)
Adopted an alien named bebopboopboop so cute. The lady is nice and there freeze dryed candy yummy. Fun torrist spot

We stopped here a few months ago when doing the extraterrestrial highway. It is a lovely little shop with lots of goodies for alien fans. The lady is lovely and it was a pleasure to meet her. We ended up buying one of her books as well as other goodies. Recommend this little stop on the extraterrestrial highway!

A literal oasis in the desert for fuel. A very cool little stop in Rachel. Gas is expensive, but it is in the middle of nowhere. The woman running in the place was awesome and she apologized for the high cost and suggested other stations 40 miles south. Our truck was thirsty, and we needed to fill up so we were grateful to have the stop.
The store has very cool alien-themed souvenirs and the .
I had bad car trouble, made it to Alien Cowpoke in Rachel and I don't know what I would have done without their help. Donna let me use wifi to call for help, helped me get info about the nearest mechanics in different directions as well as places I could stay and get food, made sure I could still have wifi connection after her station closed for the night so that the call back from the tow company would reach me, and more. You can feel good that when you stop here, your purchases are supporting a resourceful and kind community who make travel and exploring in the middle of Nevada safe. Plus, I learned they have a very well maintained bathroom and that Donna designs prints for a lot of the alien merchandise herself.
It has gasoline! Nice little store. The staff is nice and fun. The antique radio collection is cool. I would give it a 5 star if it had a few more quirky gifts. I bought a shirt, ear rings, gas and ice cream. Was it worth driving way out of my way to get to Rachel? Yes, well at least once. Did I see an alien? NO.
I did see vacant cars on the highway with nobody in sight. True story. Maybe those people will give a review.

If you need a reason to stop here (other than fuel), there are plenty! We received a friendly greeting from the woman at the counter. She was friendly throughout our visit, asking where were from, about our interest and belief in aliens, and eager to help us shop for whatever we collect. They custom-make most of the souvenirs they sell, so their merchandise is unique - you won’t be able to buy it anywhere else.
Bottom line: Professional, yet also friendly - on an individual level - with a small-town, laid-back, kitschy vibe.

This place is awesome. Nestled In beautiful territory. And the woman in the shop was amazingly insightful about the natural area around and information about area 51. 10/10. Must stop in

Made a stop in at Cowpoke for some snacks on our way back from searching for Area 51 sites. We were met by a lovely lady called Donna. Super welcoming and friendly. The shop sells Area 51 souvenirs, snacks, drinks, shirts etc, and offers self serve gas pumps incase you require gas outside of store hours. A great stop in spot for clean toilets and a rest before heading off around the interesting area of Rachel. They can even guide you on where to find the Area 51 points of interest along with a map. On leaving Donna generously gave each of our 3 children a colouring /storybook that she had written and published herself.
Thank you again Donna for your kindness

Great experience stopping in here. The lady behind the counter was extremely helpful. She authored a children's book about aliens and was kind enough to autograph a copy for me.
Stob by, grab a souvenir and have a chat with the staff. It'll make the trip worthwhile

This place is pretty fun. Also conveniently located in the middle of nowhere. I guess it's the equivalent of traveling the solar system and stopping at earth for uranium to power the ship. What choice do we have? I found some snacks and even a road beer. I skipped the "taking me to the leader" because he is brainless. So I just got my gas and blasted off!!

Was driving from tonopah to hurricane utah with my boyfriend and I stopped here for some snacks and trinkets. The girl running it, Melody, is super nice and we had a cool convo with her! This place is really cute and has a clean bathroom you can use. Price on gas is a little high but it’s because they get it shipped in and it’s like a super isolated place so it’s worth it. If I did the trip again, I would go back again just to visit!
